One book that has been instrumental in Joy’s life: Stepping Heavenward, by Elizabeth Prentiss
Meet Joy:
This 5th-born truly lives up to her name in our home. She is always looking for ways to make us laugh, and laugh with us. The sensitivity and depth she brings to the table helps keep us accountable and aware of other’s emotional needs. With her many talents and gifts, she serves our family every day and never complains. She really is a joy to have!
She enjoys being outside, fishing (and cleaning them!), playing yard football, riding horses, shopping and going to Disney World. She has a knack for cosmetology and keeps the rest of the girls stage-ready on Sunday mornings! We call her “perfect” because, well, she just about is! Her favorite team is Georgia Tech, and with the exception of Mama, she is probably the biggest fan they have. One of the things she enjoys doing is throwing, hosting, and serving at parties and family get-togethers. Being multi-talented, she can cook with the best of them (she loves to eat!), greet them at the door, and then play outside with all the young’ns till the cows come home.
Joy-isms:
“Really!?”
“Holy cow!”
“What will they think of next?”
“That’s what I said.”
“I don’t think so…”
Joy, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Joy has a heart for young children, and she wants to see them come to Jesus, and grow closer with Him. God has also given her the gift of working with her hands, and she hopes to use these talents to design modest but fashionable clothing in the coming days.
What one thing would you share with others that has greatly impacted your life?
“In 2010 I had the opportunity to go on what’s called a ‘Journey To The Heart’: this is a retreat where you and a team of other young ladies go off for 10 days and learn to seek and love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Those ten days changed my life, because I found and experienced great freedom. I’m praying the Lord will give me the privilege of seeing many other girls get the same chance to learn what I learned and see what I saw. For information on the Journey, you can look up the website, www.livingthejourney.com or for further questions, you can email us and we’ll be happy to share more with you!” ~ zion@thefortunes.org
PS (They have a guy’s Journey, too!)
